About Beavers

Beaver Scouts is for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 years. At Beavers we do lots of exciting activities such as games and badge work. We learn about our local area and do many activities such as visits to local places of interest. We also go camping and things can get pretty muddy - great fun!
Beavers meet on a Tuesday evening at the Holy Cross Parish Hall situated behind Holy Cross Church on Chapel Lane just off Upper St John Street in Lichfield. The meeting starts at 5:15pm and finishes at 6:30pm. We like everyone to have arrived and ready to start by 5:10pm. We always meet in full uniform unless otherwise specified.
Beaver uniform consists of
- Beaver Jumper with all badges in the appropriate place - Beaver uniform badge positions *
- Group neckerchief with woggle
- Either official Scout trousers or school grey trousers
- School shoes
Beavers is run by a team of adults with at least one warranted leader. The leader has overall responsibility for the Beaver Colony. The leader is fully trained (warranted) in accordance with current Scout Association regulations. All adults have been police checked.
We charge a quarterly fee for attending Beavers of £25.00 payable in January, April, July and October. We also charge extra for actvities and any camps that we attand. The quarterly fee covers insurance, leader training and uniforms, equipment and other costs.
5th Lichfield Beaver Colony is very lucky to have two Young Leaders (Explorers). The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. All Young Leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of a Young Leaders Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.
The Young Leaders' Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their awards.
